Long Nail Goddess
Fascinated by all things nail art and getting inspiration from nail techs on Youtube, I came across the lovely Maria Ortiz. Its not very often you find a nail tech who specializes in long nails while effortlessly creating limitless designs. She has established quite a niche in this industry. Q: Being, that these are the clients real nails are they mostly just getting fill ins? On average how long does it take you to do a set?
First and foremost I'm greatly honored to have this opportunity to be interviewed by you! And share my story with you and other professional nail techs and followers!
A: Yes! mostly all of my clients get fill ins because they have all been growing there nails for years! I cannot tell you an appropriate average time it takes me to do a set, every client has different sized nails and needs. So not all of them take the same amount of time to do but it takes me one and a half hours for my 2 and a half inch nail clients, and for my longest nail clients it takes me about 6 hours to do so.
Q: Does the length of nails effect the price of your services ? What would you say is the average price clients spend on long nails?
A: Absolutely! The price does change depending on the length of the nail, for the reasoning that I've had my clients around for years they are already accustomed to my prices which start from $50 and up, but in some cases things may vary focusing the point that every client has different sized nails.
Q: Why do you think most people and the work industry are so judgmental when seeing others with long nails?
A: I cannot think for everyone else and I cannot change peoples minds about how they truly feel about long Nails every one has there own opinion but, all I know is that I love my girls and I love my long nails.
Q: How did you get into the nail industry and decide to cater to long nails?
A: One day I came home from school and one of my aunt's was practicing on my sister's nails and when I walked in I could smell the fumes of the acrylics and it drew me to the table and i see as she was reaching into a black box where she kept all her tools and from that point on I fell in love with nails, as time went by I got better with the techniques, One day a client walked into the salon with long nails in desperate need for her long nails to be done so i went on and did her nails as she told me she was being turned away by other salons and I fell in love with my career once again, just seeing her facial expressions of joy and graditued but this was a page to career where I saw the needs to cater to long nails.
Q: When did you notice you could do nail reattachment rather than having the client start over ?
A: One of my clients had a major surgery, She was so in love with her nails, She had came to me so I can cut them, She could not have them because of the surgery, As I was cutting them I noticed tears pouring out of her eyes and it shatters my heart to see my clients that's way, and I jokingly told her that I would reattach her nails back when she was fully recovered from her surgery immediately those sorrow tears transformed into joyful tears, I had no clue what I was going to do but I told her I was going to do it, so as I had time to myself I thought about other clients and how easy it was to pach up a broken long nail and why not just do a long nail so I did and it worked!
Q: Having extremely long nails turned into a sisterhood. what made you come up with the “Long Nail Goddesses” and how did the name come about?
A: One day as I was doing one of my clients with long nails, another long nail client came in to get a nail repaired, as she waited I introduced them they started talking about (nail hacks, and tricks) among each other and I joined the conversation, as we talked minuets turned into hours and we didn't even realized, so at that moment I realized I need to get all of my long nail clients together for a regular gathering and I did! Every two to three months we kept on getting together and the group just got bigger and bigger as time progressed.
One day someone inboxed me on my Facebook and called me "Goddess Maria your nails look beautiful today!" I fell in love with the goddess name and therefore I used it on the group!
Q: Do you have any future endeavors ? Products / Classes that we can look forward to?
A: Yes actually I'm working with my nail product supplier on various projects, Polymers, Primers, Monomers, Polishes, and most importantly my secret potion that I use for underneath nail fill in.
